Merry Christmas

This Christmas we will gather at our home in the United States to celebrate with joy and enthusiasm, our tree is already set up in our living room and the ornaments we collected from various countries in Europe where we lived, specially from Germany that was our home for more than 10 years, give additional light to our home. The nativity scene which have been a tradition in our families for generations, is going again this year remind us of the true Spirit of Christmas.
João this year will spend Christmas in New York, we are greatful for him and his decision to interrupt his university studies to serve a mission to the people of New York and wish him a Merry Christmas!

Miguel writes to João

Everyone at home likes to write João in the mission field, because of his service we all have a greater desire to share the message of the Gospel with others as well. We pray for João and hope he has a good "Thanksgiving".

Miguel visits New York City

About the same time João went to New York City on a mission, Miguel also went their to look at some universities, they have not been together of course but it is quite interesting that both were in the same location about the same time without planing to do so!

History of the New York South Mission

The New York South Mission enjoys a significant heritage and legacy handed down from the Eastern States Mission (the second oldest mission in the Church) with past historic mission presidents as Parley P. Pratt, John Taylor, and Wilford Woodruff. This mission also pioneered the future of the Church's Visitors' Center program worldwide through the Mormon pavilion at the New York World's Fair in 1964 and 1965, just a few miles from the mission office. Today the mission covers Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island and the island of Bermuda.

1st of Sep João Departs to New York

One of the great blessings of membership in the Church is the opportunity to serve. When we give loving service to others, we are serving God. That's what João is going to do, he will spend two years of his life serving others in New York City, by being part of the New York City South Mission. In August 2010 we will return home to complete his university studies. We pray as parents he will have a successful mission and that he will be protected.
